Laboratorio di Produzione e validazione di biocompositi per applicazioni marine, in agricoltura e food packaging

Research activities mainly focused on biofibers and natural fillers (saw dust, bran, Posidonia Oceanica, potato, cellulose, wallnut, mussel shells, coffee silverskin, cutin, chitin, biochar, paper sludge, collagen hydrolysates, ecc..) can be used to produce biocompositesfavoring the end-of-life biodegradation and decreasing the formulation price.
The use of sustainable fillers demonstrates enormous potential for agricultural, marine and packaging application.
At this purpose, our research activity is focused on these sectors, with important results achieved in the last years like the production of pots, table wares, coffee capsules, films for packaging, sheets for thermoforming issues, mulching films with particular attention towards cytotoxicity and biodegradability in marine and soil environments.
